Don’t Lose The
College Grant Money
You Are Entitled To Get!
In order to receive college grants, you need to know how and why they are awarded. Students that obtain all of the coveted university grants that they are entitled to, take the time to learn the system the right way. Understanding exactly how to obtain grants for college can be the difference between graduating from the university of your choice and possibly not going to college at all.
Is there misinformation? You bet! People read books on the subject, meet with their financial broker or CPA, or attend their high school’s college night and even consult their school guidance counselor and college financial aid officer.
Can you be steered in the wrong direction? Absolutely!
- There is no book or written material that takes you by the hand, step-by-step and explains what you need to do to maximize your eligibility for university grants. There are books that briefly explain short and long term strategies but none of them (and I have done my homework on this) tells you details of exactly what to do. NOT ONE BOOK (until now)!
- Your financial advisor or CPA may be good at what they do. But I can guarantee you that obtaining college grants is not one of their strong suits…I haven’t met one yet that has read the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act of 1965 or understands the Congressional Methodology Act. Without knowledge of these subjects, they are useless for helping you position yourself for college grants. Also, they are fearful of losing you as a client if they tell you that they don’t know.
Now, here is where college and university grants come from:
- First, there are several different types of government college grants. The federal government is the biggest sponsor with Pell Grants and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, to name a couple. These types of college grants are need-based. They are not considered scholarships but free money none-the-less that you don’t need to pay back- just as you wouldn’t have to pay back a scholarship once you received it.
- The feds also provide need/merit-based grants for college for individuals who meet certain criteria. Amounts range from $100 to $4,000 and require a course of study that the government deems vital. In short, there are strings attached.
- The second place a student may be awarded university grants for college is the state that you live in. Again, these are usually need-based college grants that you will need to qualify for if you file the required paperwork on-time and truly know how to approach the situation. Otherwise it will be free money that is lost forever. Each state has different criteria and differing award amounts for their college grant programs.
- The third source to find free money for college is from the college or university itself. University grants are gifts from the school’s endowment funds, for example. These grants can be need-based, merit-based, or a combination of both. Different departments and sectors of each school will offer these grants to students who meet certain criteria. Before you apply for acceptance, you should know long beforehand if college grants are offered providing you are eligible. Otherwise, you may be wasting your time applying to a school that just won’t be in the budget.
Now, you’ll need to know HOW to get them.
In my book that was 20 years in the making, The Ultimate Guide To College Financial Aid, I explain the process of positioning yourself before you apply so that you can maximize your eligibility and receive as many grants for college as possible. You’ll learn the secrets that only a few know but you won’t have to pay the pricey consulting fees others already have.
Even if you are already attending a college, this book is a must. You will immediately recognize the mistakes that you made the previous year and you’ll understand what you need to do to improve your situation going forward.
I have met very few people in my 20 years of college financial aid experience that didn’t make mistakes somewhere during the process and missed out on college grants. To file your college aid forms without knowing the system is like having the IRS do your taxes and not taking any deductions. You wouldn’t do that would you?
Finding how to get the grants for college that you entitled to is a necessity today with the cost of college averaging $25,000 a year…and that’s if you graduate in only four years. One of the best kept secrets that colleges won’t tell you is that most students are averaging 4.5 to 5 years. So, you are really looking at well over $100,000 for a bachelor’s degree. That’s no joke.
And if you have multiple children to educate, then you may be looking at a retirement problem. In fact, statistics show that a family who needs to college educate two children will have to work seven years past their projected retirement date. Sound like fun? Ugh!
Well that’s why you need to take the situation seriously and that’s why I am making this special limited offer! You don’t have to pay the hundreds of dollars that others spend for consulting firms to help you. You don’t have to be a do-it-yourselfer. You will be the best prepared, most informed consumer when it comes to getting money for college — whether it be grants, scholarships, student loans or parental loans.
