The fafsa is The College Financial Aid Form With 110 Chances For You To Make One Little Mistake That Could Knock You Out Of The Running For Significant Financial Aid and You Won’t Even Know That You Made It Until It’s Too Late.

If you aren’t sure what you are doing, read on- you’ve come to the right place.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid — more commonly called the FAFSA – is the single most important college financial aid form. Make even one little mistake or leave a question blank on your FAFSA or CSS Profile form and you could lose thousands of dollars in financial aid. Not because you aren’t entitled to the money but because you lost time correcting your error and when your university aid form was finally processed, instead of you getting what you deserved, it was given to someone else. College financial aid is not given to the ones who need it the most, but rather to those who get their financial aid form (FAFSA) done right the first time and on time!

Just One Little Error Could Land You In FAFSA Purgatory.

This is the federal university aid form that every family seeking to qualify for financial aid must fill out.  Your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) is calculated from the information that you provide on your FAFSA form. Virtually every college and university that offers federal financial aid uses the FAFSA data as the starting point to evaluating need and offering assistance.

Get It Right The First Time. Dare I Say, “Or Else?”

The FAFSA form is 10 pages long with over 100 blanks that must be filled in. It has been known to bring CPAs to their knees. You will be asked almost every personal and financial question that you can think of and some you may not have considered. As with most government forms, it can be complicated and confusing. To start filling it out,  you will need every one’s Social Security numbers, federal income tax returns, all bank and investment statements along with the the student’s drivers license. If you’re going to file your FAFSA online, you’ll also need to get a pin number.

But most importantly before filing any financial aid form, be sure to have my e-book by your side — The Ultimate Guide to College Financial Aid. Line by line, I’ll help you legally provide the information the form requires while helping you protect your assets, lower your out-of-pocket costs and maximize your eligibility for financial aid.

Apply Early And Get To The Front Of The Money Line.

You’ll need to get with your accountant to do your taxes ASAP and file the FAFSA as soon after January 1 as possible. Make sure your application is filed long before your state’s financial aid deadline as well as the posted deadlines for the schools you’re considering. For fastest submission, get a pin number and file online. If you fill out the forms by hand and file, it will take weeks longer for your application to be entered into the system and your data sent to the schools where you are applying.

Most important, be sure that every question on your application is complete and perfect. Missing information and mistakes will not just delay completion — you will be moved to the back of the line for any available financial aid. That’s why so many people like you are investing $27.00 for The Ultimate Guide to College Financial Aid. It’s the perfect guide to a perfect application.

No Two Schools Have The Exact Same Requirements, So You’re Going To Fill Out A Lot Of Different Forms.

Regardless of what you hear, You have way too much at stake here.

Don’t Try This Alone!

In addition to the FAFSA, you will almost certainly need to provide personal and financial information via other financial aid forms. Depending on the choice of schools you apply to, there are additional college aid forms that might be required including the CSS/ PROFILE® form, specific university aid forms, institutional forms and state forms.

Most private universities (and even some state schools) require one or more of these college aid forms when they award grants and scholarships from their own funds:

The College Board CSS/PROFILE®

Some private colleges and universities use the CSS/PROFILE® to determine a student’s eligibility for grants and scholarships. To get the form, you must first register and pay a $26.00 fee which will include having the data you submit on the form sent to one school.  If you have more than one college or university that requires the CSS/PROFILE® data it will cost an additional $15.00 per school.

State forms

After you have completed your  FAFSA and CSS/PROFILE®, apply for any available state-supported grants and scholarships to receive your fair share. Each state is different and has its own forms, deadlines and requirements. Be sure to check up on the state you live in and the state where you are applying to college to see what forms are needed, what the deadlines are and how to go about getting what you are entitled to receive. Some states provide grants for students attending an in-state private college while others might offer low-interest loans to supplement federal programs.

Institutional forms

Some of the schools you apply to may have their own university aid forms in addition to, or in place of, the FAFSA and CSS/PROFILE®. This type of form is supplied by and authored by the colleges themselves. Check with each and every college that you apply to and make sure that you fill out all of the required financial aid forms to get your fair share.
